Corporate Social Responsibility

On the afternoon of January 12, 2020 Taal Volcano erupted where the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOCS) issued an Alert Level 4, indicating that “a hazardous explosive eruption is possible within hours to days.” Many residences from the towns of Balete, San Nicolas, and Talisay in Batangas and other towns within the shores of Taal Lake was ordered to evacuate. The volcanic activities intensified with continuous eruption plus frequent volcanic lightning that spewed ashes in Cavite, Laguna and reached as far as Metro Manila and Pampanga, resulting in the suspension of classes, work schedules, and flights.

Many houses and buildings were destroyed, roads were rendered impassable, establishments had no choice but to shut down operations and a total agricultural damage has reached to billions. Taal and nearby towns was left like a ghost town, there were burned trees everywhere, animals lay dead buried in graves of ash. A number of residences was forced to leave their homes at haste and bring nothing but a few necessities that won’t even last them a week in order to proceed to safety. Those who were living in the island completely lost their homes and their livelihood. Evacuation areas were packed with large number of people that led to lack of medicines, toiletries and sleeping mats.

Last January 21, 2020 the team visited a few of our Seafarer’s family that was affected with the volcanic eruption such as those from Lemery, Taal and Tanauan in Batangas. We at DNR-OCS value our people and live up to our belief in the importance of sharing. During our relief operation we have seen what have become of the affected areas. It was a devastating sight and truly heartbreaking to see our fellow Filipino’s in a difficult state. We handed out necessities such as water, food, toiletries, face masks, medicines, and blankets not only to our seafarer’s family but also to other people affected. We hope that with our humble gesture we have lessened the burden that they felt. We shall continue to pray for all the victims, that they may remain strong and steadfast during this difficult time and also, we shall include the safety of everyone from such events.

We, from DNR-OCS Inc. truly proclaim our responsibility to our environment and to our community. Through these activities we are overflowed with joy providing helps, support and assistance to many organizations in our own humble way. This program help forge a stronger bond between employees and corporation; serve as a link to boost the morale and feel more connected to each other.

Year by year, we allocate a budget to our corporate social responsibility. From coastal clean-up drive, volunteering at any extent in the aftermath of the calamities, sharing gifts and laughter to less fortunate children during holiday season; these bests describe our love and passion to all the creations made by our Almighty Father.
